The green house was built by Leo Tolstoy in the 70s at the place of the old one that was made by N. Volkonsky and that burnt in1867. Leo Tolstoy said his grandfather loved flowers. He cultivated rare plants, peaches, apricots. The green house also furnished the estate with vegetable and flower seedlings. Crocuses, hyacinths, roses, gladioluses, peonies added to the charm of Yasnaya Polyana. This tradition goes on.
